As we bring the Move4Fun project to a close, we look back with pride and gratitude on a journey filled with collaboration, creativity, and commitment to making physical activity more accessible, enjoyable, and sustainable for children across Europe.

The final event, held in Warsaw, Poland, was a true celebration of what Move4Fun stands for: movement, learning, and fun. Partners, stakeholders, educators, and young participants gathered to reflect on the project’s achievements and share insights gained throughout its implementation.

From the very beginning, Move4Fun aimed to combat sedentary lifestyles by promoting inclusive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate physical activity among children aged 6–12. Our focus was not only on increasing activity levels, but also on enhancing children’s motivation and enjoyment, recognising that fun is a powerful driver of long-term behaviour change.

At the heart of the project is the Move4Fun app – a gamified mobile application designed to encourage young people to be physically active in a fun, interactive, and motivating way. Combining augmented reality with five mini-games at varying difficulty levels, the app provides an engaging alternative to traditional forms of exercise.

Co-created with young users and based on solid pedagogical and scientific principles, the app is now freely available on both Google Play and the App Store, ready to support schools and families in promoting healthier lifestyles.

A Project Rooted in Collaboration and Impact

Since its launch, Move4Fun has:

  • Developed and tested a digital tool that makes movement engaging and inclusive.
  • Conducted in-depth research through literature review and focus groups on adolescents’ motivation for physical activity and digital engagement
  • Reached professionals and children across several European countries, empowering them to move more – and enjoy it.

The final event featured live demonstrations of the app, exchange of experiences from pilot countries, and inspiring discussions on how to integrate Move4Fun into educational and recreational settings beyond the project’s lifetime.

What’s Next?

While the funded phase of the project is ending, the Move4Fun legacy is just beginning. Our materials remain accessible to anyone looking to enrich children’s physical activity experiences. Partners are committed to continuing dissemination and integration at the local and national levels, ensuring the project’s values live on.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all partners, educators, families, and – most of all – the children who brought Move4Fun to life. Your energy and enthusiasm have inspired us every step of the way.

Let’s continue to move, learn, and have fun – because when movement is fun, it becomes a lifelong habit.
